Winning Double For Tommy Town Homebreds at Golden Gate Fields

Albany, CA (November 21, 2021) – Tommy Town homebreds Ghostly Gal and Knockout Bert, both trainees from the Jonathan Wong barn, scored a winning double for the racing stable today at Golden Gate Fields.

First up was Ghostly Gal, who took the field wire-to-wire in the 3rd race to earn her maiden special weight diploma going one mile over the firm turf course. The 3-year-old daughter of Ghostzapper broke cleanly from the inside post and took the lead a few strides later. She pitched her ears forward and took a relaxed, clear advantage. Challengers emerged around the turn with one to the inside and one to the outside at the top of the stretch. She responded each time she was asked and she came home best by one length.

Ghostly Gal is the second foal from the multiple stakes winning Exclusive Quality mare, R Sassy Lass.

Four races later, 4-year-old Munnings gelding Knockout Bert’s allowance victory unfolded in a similar manner. He drew the rail post in 7th race allowance over the Tapeta going six furlongs. Hustled from the gate, he cleared his field, but did not run off. The closest the rest got to him was going into the far turn. She shook them off and began to draw away at the top of the stretch. He ran strongly to wire to win by two lengths.

Knockout Bert is out of the stakes-placed Distorted Humor mare, Knockout Bert.
