Tommy Town Filly Wins Golden Gate Debutante Stakes

Albany, CA (November 25, 2022) – Sally’s Sassy earned the first stakes victory of her young career with a hard fought victory in the Golden Gate Debutante Stakes for 2-year-old fillies going six furlongs over the all weather at the Northern California oval.

The Tommy Town colorbearer had gained black-type last out with her third place finish in the Pike Place Dancer S. on October 29. Not an on the pace type, our daughter of West Coast gave the early leaders a six length head start after the first quarter. Asked to draw closer heading into the final turn by jockey William Antongeorgi III, she began a sustained closing effort that lasted to the wire. Five wide at the top of the stretch with two other fillies left in the fray, Sally’s Sassy would not be denied. She kept fighting and when the photo camera lit up, her nose was their first.

Sally’s Sassy has won or placed in three of her four career starts for trainer Jonathan Wong. Produced by the stakes winning Posse mare, Sharp Sally, she was bred by Buck Pond Farm, Inc.
