Tommy Town Bred Sophomore Takes AQU Maiden Special

Ozone Park, NY (December 5, 2019)-Tommy Town bred Kid Bourbon (c, 3, Lemon Drop Kid–Top Kisser {GSW, $407,100}, by Old Topper) finished third on debut at Gulfstream Feb. 23 and was subsequently shelved. Completing the trifecta in his return at Belmont Sept. 25, he was second last time over this track and trip Nov. 10. Sent off at 2-1 this time, the bay moved up into a two-wide third, keeping close tabs on the top two through a :47.52 half-mile.

Drawing even with the leaders entering the far turn, Kid Bourbon took control in mid-stretch and extended clear to don cap and gown by 3 1/2 lengths.

The winner is the first foal out of Top Kisser, who is also responsible for the juvenile colt Jive Talkin (City Zip), who finished second on debut at Golden Gate Nov. 24. The Grade III-winning mare was bred back to Violence this spring.

Kid Bourbon was a $120,000 Ylg ’17 FTSAUG.
