Stalking Shadow Proves Best in Golden Gate Allowance
Albany, CA (April 9, 2022) – Tommy Town homebred Stalking Shadow, who won the California Derby last season, earned another visit to the winner’s circle with a determined victory in the 8th race at Golden Gate Fields.
A group of ten gathered for the mile and one-sixteenth allowance. Drawing post four, the 4-year-old Ministers Wild Cat gelding was tucked in nicely two lengths off the leaders. Saving ground until midway around the final turn, he was moved into the five path by jockey Armando Ayuso for the stretch drive. He closed resolutely, gained the lead late and inched away late to win by a half-length.
Stalking Shadows has earned $163,048. Trained by Jonathan Wong, he is out of the six-time winning Petionville mare, Silent Stalk.
