Albany, CA (June 11, 2021) – Tommy Town Thoroughbreds LLC’s Stanford Bay became the second winner for his freshman sire Stanford going wire to wire in the 6th race at Golden Gate Fields, a five furlong maiden special weight over the Tapeta surface.
Stanford Bay flew out of the gate from post four and in a few strides, he had opened up a clear lead. Jockey Kyle Frey was not asking him, but rather keeping him well gathered as he clicked off the opening quarter in 22.65. Asked to go at the top of the stretch, he reached the final furlong in 46.76. Clearly in front, he was not pressed the rest of the trip and he finished up the journey in 59.32. His winning margin was easier than the two and three-quarter official margin would indicate.
Stanford Bay is a second generation homebred. Trained by Jonathan Wong, he was produced by the stakes winning Ministers Wild Cat mare, Curvy Cat, who was also a debut winner and finished in front an additional nine times.
