Sally’s Sassy Takes Golden Gate Feature

Albany, CA (January 16, 2023) – Sally’s Sassy, our stakes winning 3-year-old filly, started off her sophomore campaign with a thrilling victory in the feature race at Golden Gate Fields, a six furlong allowance over the all weather course.

The daughter of West Coast does not show the frontrunning style of her sire, but rather the late closing speed of her dam’s sire, Posse. Under what has been of late a rare, sunny sky, Sally’s Sassy was at the back of the pack for the first half-mile. As with many a come from behind runner, she had to come wide around the turn and into the stretch. She had a to work hard as the speed was not coming back and another had gotten first run. She kept coming relentlessly and was up in the final jump to win by a nose.

Trained by Jonathan Wong, Sally’s Sassy was bred in Kentucky by Buck Pond Farm. Produced by the stakes winner Sharp Sally, she is from the immediate family of G1 winners Honor A. P. and Annals of Time.
