Rose Maddox Rallies to Santa Anita Allowance Win

Arcadia, CA (April 1, 2022) – Rose Maddox came rolling from off the pace to win the 8th race at Santa Anita Park, a $69,500 allowance over the fast main track going six furlongs.

The daughter of California’s 2022 Leading General Sire Grazen, the 3-year-old filly had a bit of a stumble at the start, but got her feet under her quickly and settled in fifth. She closed up around the turn, but had nowhere to run. Moved off the rail, jockey Kyle Frey aimed her for a rapid closing hole out in the five path. She dashed through, stretched out and had plenty left to hold off another closer to win by three-quarters of a length.

Rose Maddox has won or placed in five of her six career starts and she has earned $99,980 for owner/breeder Nick Alexander. Trained by Steve Miyadi, she is out of the multiple stakes-placed Unusual Heat mare, Heat the Rocks.
