Praise and Honor Smartly Scores at Golden Gate
Albany, CA (September 4, 2020) – Praise and Honor earned her non-winners of one other than diploma today with a stylish victory in the 3rd race at Golden Gate Fields, a $34,720 allowance going six furlongs over the all weather.
Our Tommy Town Thoroughbreds LLC’s daughter of Honor Code settled kindly just off the pair dueling for the lead down the backstretch and around the turn. Asked to go wide by jockey Irving Orozco, Praise and Honor caught the leaders and drew away through the stretch to prove much the best by two and one-half lengths.
Trained by Jonathan Wong, Praise and Honor has now won or placed in three of her five starts. She was bred in Kentucky by Breffni Farm and produced by the stakes-placed Speightstown mare, Going to Kukaro.
In this oddly scheduled year, today is Kentucky Oaks Day. Praise and Honor’s third dam, the G1-winning Nijinsky II mare, Jeanne Jones, was second in the filly classic in 1988.
