My Kentucky Girl Debuts a Winner

Arcadia, CA (April 2, 2022) – My Kentucky Girl, our 3-year-old daughter of American Pharoah, relied on her talent to overcome her debut greeness to earn her maiden special weight diploma in the 8th race at Santa Anita going six furlongs over the fast main track.

Away with the field, she didn’t show much early speed down the backstretch. Jockey Ricardo Gonzalez asked her to close in approaching the turn. She responded by circling the field and putting herself into contention at the top of the stretch. She continued to close but hadn’t changed leads. The lead change came inside the sixteenth pole and she surged past the leader in the final strides to win by a neck.

Bred by Saratoga Glen Farm, LLC and Sunset Stables, My Kentucky Girl is out of the stakes-placed Big Brown mare, Easy Living. She is trained by Jonathan Wong.
