Ministers Wild Cat Filly Wins Third Consecutive Start

Shakopee, MN (June 17, 2021) – Arizona Sun, the 4-year-old daughter of Ministers Wild Cat, is having a very successful 2021 season. In the top three in five of her six starts, she made her third consecutive visit to the winner’s circle in the 7th race at Canterbury Park, a five furlong allowance over the firm turf course.

Drawing the rail, she took up the inside position in third and waited for a seam to run. She and jockey Luis Negron had to wait until midstretch for it to materialize, but when it did, Arizona Sun hustled through. She took the lead and inched away to win by three-quarters of a length. The final time was a swift 55.88.

Arizona Sun has a career mark of eight wins, two seconds and three thirds in sixteen starts and she has banked $161,530 for owner Randy Howg. Bred by Fleming Thoroughbred Farm LLC, she was produced by the multiple stakes winning In Excess (IRE) mare, Cave Springs. She is trained by Robertino Diodoro.
