Ministers Wild Cat Fillies Shine at Turf Paradise

Phoenix, AZ (April 23, 2021) – Ministers Wild Cat fillies Alberta Sun and Arizona Sun came home victorious in the Joanne Dye Breeders’ Oaks and the Ann Owens Distaff Handicap respectively today at Turf Paradise.

Alberta Sun stepped up first in the 3rd race on the card going six furlongs over the fast main track. The 3-year-old filly took up the chase soon after the break. She drew even with the leader two furlongs remaining. The pacesetter folded and Alberta Sun set sail for the wire. She cleared the remaining contenders and rolled in five lengths best.

Arizona Sun lined-up five races later. She was first out of the gate rated kindly on the lead. Never headed, a challenge presented at the top of the stretch. Asked to finish, she did so with a flourish. Her margin grew throughout the stretch and she won by six and one-half lengths.

Both fillies are campaigned by Randy Howg and are trained by Robertino Diodoro. Additionally, both were bred in Arizona by Fleming Thoroughbred Farm LLC. Alberta Sun was produced by the winning Tabasco Cat mare, Drifa. She has won or placed in six of her eight starts and she has earned $85,500.

Arizona Sun is out of the stakes winning In Excess (IRE) mare, Cave Springs. She has won or placed in eleven of her fourteen starts and she has earned $120,730.
