Pleasanton, CA (July 19, 2020) – You don’t often see the term ‘impressive debut” used in a chart call. Lightinthedarkness, the Tommy Town homebred son of Ministers Wild Cat, earned that superlavite in the 7th race at Pleasanton, a maiden special weight going five furlongs.
The 2-year-old colt broke quickly from post five and he was two lengths clear after the opening quarter in 22.35. Around the turn and into the stretch, his lead grew to six lengths after he ran a half in 45.67. His clocked the final furlong in 11.73, finishing up in 57.40. The winning margin was seven and one-half lengths.
Lightinthedarkness is a second generation homebred for the farm. His dam is the stakes-placed Speightstown mare, Light Up the Sky.
Tommy Town’s other homebred in the field, Who You Say I Am, a Gemologist colt, finished third. Both are trained by Jonathon Wong.
