Keeper Ofthe Stars Returns a Winner

Albany, CA (April 3, 2021) – The feature race at Golden Gate Fields was a mile and one-sixteenth contest over the turf course and it marked the return to racing of our G1 winner, Keeper Ofthe Stars. The 5-year-old mare, who owns the course record for the distance, didn’t have to run that fast today, but she did have to do some honest work for her victory.

A field of six lined-up, with five of the starters being gray and all but Keeper Ofthe Stars having the advantage of recency in the entry box. Keeper Ofthe Stars took up a forward position after the break and to keep her rail position, she had to keep up with the pacesetter to her outside. The two mares staged their own private match race all the way around. Keeper Ofthe Stars would not let her rival past in the closing stages and she got to the wire with a neck to spare.

The victory takes the daughter of Midnight Lute’s earnings to $524,231. Trained by Jonathan Wong, she was produced by the Run Away and Hide mare, Sociable. She was bred in Kentucky by Olin Gentry, Omar Trevino and Anthony Cappola,
