Kafwain Son Silken Prince Romps in Santa Anita Allowance
Arcadia CA (March 14, 2020) – Silken Prince, the son of Kafwain bred by Tommy Town Thoroughbreds gave a rousing last-to-first display in the 2nd race at Santa Anita Park, a $58,500 allowance over the main track.
Breaking from the outside post in the field of eight, the 4-year-old gelding spotted the field ten lengths after the opening furlong over the course rated good.
Racing wide down the backstretch, he was asked to start his run by jockey Jose Valdivia, Jr. as the field approached the final turn. The gap was closed in a matter of strides. He was in the thick of it midway around the turn and as they hit the top of the stretch, he had reached the leaders. He shifted up another gear and drew away strongly to win by more than four lengths. He finished the six and one-half furlongs in a lively 1:16.31.
Racing for the partnership of Integrity Thoroughbred Racing, LLC, Little Baca Racing, LLC, Lucas Downs, Ltd., Victor Racing and Brian McGoldrick, Silken Prince is trained by Matthew Chew. Produced by the Touch Gold mare, Silk Queen, he is a half-brother to the recently retired multiple graded stakes winning Tommy Town-bred, Queen B to You.
