Arcadia, CA (October 7, 2022) – Stanford filly Flame McGoon looks to have a bright furture on the turf after her allowance victory in the 3rd race today at Santa Anita.
The 3-year-old filly took a mild stutter step when the gates opened and she found herself in a bit of traffic down the backstretch. Eager to run, but with no short way around, jockey Ryan Curatolo had to work out a trip. She didn’t have completely clear sailing until switching out in the stretch. She came running, taking the lead inside the final furlong and opening up to win by a length and one-quarter in 1:09.62
Flame McGoon, whose name come originally from the Lil Abner comic strip, races as a homebred for Branch Thoroughbred owners Allen and Susan Branch. Trained by Mark Glatt, she was produced by the More Than Ready mare, Lula Talullah.
