Enola Gray (Grazen-Unsung Heroine, by More Than Ready) won her stakes debut, and stayed unbeaten after two starts, with an easy win in Saturday’s Melair Stakes for 3-year-old California-bred fillies.
Ridden by Tyler Baze, Enola Gray led throughout the race at 1 1-16 miles, finishing in 1:42.64. Enola Gray finished 2 1-4 lengths in front of 25-1 Allsquare, giving trainer Phil D’Amato a sweep of the first two positions. Cheekaboo, a 7-1 shot, finished third in the field of six.
Enola Gray races for owner and breeder Nick Alexander and has earned $143,600. Enola Gray won her debut in a maiden race for California-breds at 6 1-2 furlongs by 16 1-4 lengths on April 10.
