Grantville, PA (November 18, 2020) – Chocolate Speights should have been the hunch play of the night at Penn National. The Grantville, PA track is a short eight mile drive from the famous chocolate lover’s destination of Hershey. Our Tommy Town Thoroughbreds LLC’s 4-year-old Speightstown filly paid the hunch players an 11-1 dividend, fighting off challenges early and late to win the 6th race at Penn National, a six furlong allowance over the fast main track.
Breaking from the outside post, Chocolate Speights, was away on top and challenged the inside speed for the lead. Kept off the rail path, she was never headed and responded gamely in the final strides to hold off the closers and win by a head.
Chocolate Speights is trained by Todd Beattie. Bred in Kentucky by Gainesway Thoroughbreds, Ltd., she is out of the graded stakes winning Malibu Moon mare, More Chocolate.
