Grace and Truth the Latest Kafwain Maiden Special Winner

Sunland Park, NM (April 24, 2016)-Tommy Town Thoroughbreds, LLC homebred Grace and Truth ran away by four lengths in his win over a $21,275 Sunland Park maiden special field.

This four-year-old gelded son of Kafwain out of Bless Idbyour Name (by Valid Wager) went off as the odds-on favorite to pick up the easy win. He now has a record of five starts, one win, one second and one third with total earnings of $20,304.

Sunland Park, NM (April 17, 2016)-Malibu Rum Run making her Sunland Park debut a winning one with a half length score as the even money favorite in a maiden special event over six and a half furlongs.

With a stalking trip to earn the win, the three-year-old filly has now earned $20,985 from five lifetime starts.

Ozone Park, NY (April 10, 2016)- Toledo Eddie picked up his fifth straight win, with a wire-to-wire score in a $75,000 Aqueduct one mile allowance race in 1:35.14 scoring by a half length.

This son of Ministers Wild Cat is out of Cape Town Charmer (by Cape Town) and he has won three races in four weeks and five-in-a-row dating back to mid-December 2015. Toledo Eddie’s overall record shows fourteen wins, eight seconds and one third from forty-two starts earning $440,551.

Alexander Homebred Tough It Out Rallies to Win $200,000 Echo Eddie

ARCADIA, Calif. (April 9, 2016)–Nick Alexander’s homebred Tough It Out came with a late rush to take command a sixteenth of a mile out en route to winning Saturday’s $200,000 Echo Eddie Stakes at Santa Anita by 4-1/2 lengths. Trained by Phil D’Amato and ridden by Joe Talamo, the 3-year-old Grazen gelding got 6-1/2 furlongs over a sloppy track in 1:17.60.

“This is just a tremendous feeling,” said D’Amato, who registered his second win of the day and now has a commanding five win lead (39-34) in the Winter Meet trainer standings with just one day remaining. “Mike Mitchell (his late mentor) and Nick Alexander. We wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for them.”

Off at 5-1 in a field of nine California-bred or sired horses, Tough It Out paid $12.20, $5.80 and $3.40. Out of the Marquetry mare Mark Set Go, Tough It Out picked up $120,000 for the win, more than doubling his earnings to $212,790. The Echo Eddie represents his first stakes win and improves his overall record to 8-2-1-2.

“We had a good trip,” said Talamo. “Phil just told me to ride him like Kent Desormeaux on Exaggerator, so we stayed in the five path and went from there. I thought the track was pretty fair for the first few races, and these last few, you can come from behind. It feels great.”

Ridden by Gary Stevens, Gold Rush Dancer made a bold move at the rail three furlongs out, opened up by about three lengths with a furlong to run, but was no match for the winner late.

Off at 6-1, Gold Rush Dancer finished a length in front of Xingontothebone and paid $8.00 and $4.80.

Ridden by Martin Pedroza, Xingontothebone rallied three wide through the lane and proved third-best. Off at 4-1, he paid $3.60 to show.

Fractions on the race were 21.97, 45.53 and 1:11.28.

Toledo Eddie Makes it Four-in-a-row

Ozone Park, NY (April 2, 2016)-Toledo Eddie, less than a month from a Santa Anita allowance/optional claimer field fifteen length win moved on to Aqueduct and proceeded to go wire-to-wire in a $75,000 starter stake for his fourth win in a row.

This son of Ministers Wild Cat is out of Cape Town Charmer (by Cape Town) and is a seven-year-old who earned $45,000 for his recent win and increased his lifetime earnings to $395,551. Toledo Eddie’s overall record shows thirteen wins, eight seconds and one third from forty-one starts.

Kafister Goes Back-to-Back With Allowance Wins

ARCADIA, CA (March 25, 2016)-The six-year-old son of Kafwain, Kafister picked up his eleventh lifetime win scoring back-to-back in Santa Anita allowance races.

Bobbling at the start Kafister had a stalking trip and got up to score by a nose in 1:09.66.

Kafister is out of the Mari’s Book broodmare Register and has now earned $324,450. His stellar record from twenty-six starts; eleven wins, three seconds and four thirds. In his last seven starts, Kafister has three wins, two seconds and two thirds dating back to July 2015.

Seedsandstemsagain Goes Wire-to-Wire for Second Straight

Arcadia, CA (March 20, 2016)-Seedsandstemsagain picked up his second straight win with a solid wire-to-wire victory going a mile on the Santa Anita lawn.

The five-year-old Old Topper horse earned his diploma last out in a maiden allowance race and today he took home another $21,600 for his win in a starter allowance race; stopping the timer in 1:35.14 for the two and a quarter length score.

Out of Miss Pitz this horse has now earned $119,988 from his fifteen starts. With two wins, five seconds and two thirds Seedsandstemsagain has earned $7,999 per start. He was bred by Jim Robinson, Ron Brewer & Jim Lyberger.

Old Topper will stand for $2,500 live foal in 2016.
