Albany, CA (October 24, 2020) – The second maiden special weight winner on the day at Golden Gate Fields for Tommy Town Thoroughbreds LLC was the homebred Old Topper filly, Back Slider, who wired the field going six furlongs in the 8th race.
Coming off a runner-up finish in her career debut, Back Slider lined up in the middle of the nine horse field in post five. She emerged with the lead a few strides away from the gate and was quickly joined in the pace battle. She had company through the first half-mile and shook off that opponent around the final turn. She was clear through the stretch and stubbornly held off a late closer to win by neck.
Back Slider is trained by Jonathan Wong and she was produced by the multiple stakes-placed Gulch mare, Big Easy. She comes from the Windfields foundation family of Iribelle through Victoriana.
