Grantville, PA (April 16, 2021) – Tommy Town homebred Back Slider cleared her first allowance condition with a frontrunner victory in the 3rd race at Penn National.
The 3-year-old Old Topper filly had earned her maiden victory in her second career start last season at Golden Gate. Third last time out under similar conditions in a field of six, she lined-up against nine others tonight over six furlongs on the fast main track. She shot out of post six and when straight to the front. She had company for the opening quarter, but shook her off and headed for the finish. She took a five length lead into the stretch and held off the closers to win by nearly two lengths.
Back Slider has finished in the top three in four of her five starts. Trained by Todd Beattie, she is out of the multiple stakes-placed Gulch mare, Big Easy.
