Alberta Sun Wins Arizona Breeders’ Stakes
Phoenix, AZ (March 11, 2021) – Alberta Sun, the 3-year-old daughter of Ministers Wild Cat, overcame a stumble at the start to win the Arizona Breeders’ Stakes going six furlongs over the fast main track at Turf Paradise.
Bet down as the 3/5 favorite, Alberta Sun gave the punters a bit of a scare with the mishap at the break. Allowed to settle by jockey Glenn Corbett, Alberta Sun found her stride down the backstretch. She launched her bid four wide around the turn and was in contention at the top of the stretch. Closing resolutely, she took over with a furlong to run and came home best by a length and one-quarter.
Alberta Sun races for Randy Howg and she is trained by Robertino Diodoro. She as now won or placed in five of her seven career starts. Bred in Arizona by Fleming Thoroughbred Farm LLC, she was produced by the winning Tabasco Cat mare, Drifa.
